At currently 25, these are 30 things I want to achieve in the next 5 years before turning 30.

Get inspired by this list to make your own and reach your goals before the big milestone!

Lifestyle

1. Move to a non-English speaking country – I originally come from France and have been living in English speaking countries for more than 2 years now. My English although not perfect is good enough for me. It’s time to move on to a new adventure and perfect another language.

2. Adopt a dog – I’m definitely a dog person.

3. See the northern lights (so cliché, but I gotta do it) – It just seems so surreal, I have to see it with my own eyes.

4. Renovate a home – Although this one is linked to my financial goals as I want to invest in real estate later on, I also particularly enjoy home decor and design so I’d love this challenge!

5. Travel to 30 countries – Currently at 18. Discovering new cultures always offers new perspectives. It’s amazing for personal growth.

6. Attend a black-tie event – I want an excuse to wear a properly nice dress, plus I wonder how those events unfold.

Finance

All my financial goals are more or less connected. The big picture is that I want to reach financial freedom. In order to do so, I want to save $25,000 to be able to invest in real estate and house hack. This will allow me to generate passive income as rent paid by tenants. That will grow my annual income and so will making money online, which will hopefully bring my income to $100,000 in total.

7. Buy a house/apartment to house hack

8. Create a passive income

9. Save $25,000

10. Earn $100,000 in one year

11. Make money online

12. Reach financial freedom

Career

13. Use my creative skills for work – There is nothing more disheartening than having a job you can do on autopilot. Creativity brings a constant renewal of your task which gives me energy to do my best work.

14. Wake up excited for work – Although I’m not old, I’ve already spent too many years waking up demotivated for a work I don’t enjoy. And with the colossal amount of work we do in a lifetime, that’s no way to live. I want to find a work that might not be easy but that’s rewarding enough to make me excited for the day ahead.

15. Have my own venture – Owning your own company or having your personal project gives you the opportunity to run the show and make the strategic calls. I want to make a difference in my daily work.

16. Create a physical product – Everything can be done online, but it’s another sense of accomplishment to hold your own physical product in your hands. I want that feeling.

17. Employ someone else – Building a company that’s strong enough to employ and support someone else is an absolute dream. That’s next level added value to society.

18. Create a charity with my sister – My sister has such a good soul that I want to give her the tools to make a difference in the world I know she’s capable of making. Plus, giving back is one of the main drivers to success.

Skills

19. Become properly polyglot – The satisfaction of speaking fluently another language is incredible. My mother tongue is French and I’m fluent in English. My other language skills are quite messy. I understand Spanish if they speak slowly enough (so not often) and I can get around reading it. And I have a basic understanding of German, Dutch and Norwegian. But having some skills in a language isn’t very fun. Mastering it is so rewarding.

20. Play the piano – My father didn’t think piano was cool enough so he signed me up for guitar lessons instead. I never really got hooked on the guitar and I’ve always regretted not sticking to my guns and learning piano. I want to correct that.

21. Get a degree I’m passionate about – My BBA wasn’t a passion project to say the least. I’m seriously considering law studies to be able to help real people with their real problems.

22. Learn how to sew properly – My grandmother is an absolute expert when it comes to sewing. I want to be like her when I grow up. I’ve taken some steps towards improving my skills but I get frustrated easily and don’t muster enough patience to see projects through. I want to be better at it to move past that frustration.

23. Get my driver’s license – It’s starting to be embarrassing for me not to have my driver’s license, but I’ve always lived in European cities, no need for cars there. However, it gets annoying when travelling and I feel somewhat limited in my options. So I need to cross that off my list.

24. Master public speaking (talk in front of 100+ and not pass out) – Made progress on that but it’s not close to where I want it to be. I’ll keep practising. There’s no other way to improve that one.

Fitness

25. Be my fittest self – I want to feel strong.

26. Run a marathon – Isn’t that on everyone’s list? I’ve started training slowly but surely. You can check my running program in this post. It’s a great functional workout and oh so good for cardiovascular health. A marathon is just a goal to give the training a purpose and a nice milestone to accomplish.

27. Do the split – Since I was a little girl I’ve wanted to do the split but even then I couldn’t. It’s technically one of the most achievable goals on my list. With proper stretching it should only take me 3 to 6 months to get there. However, it requires consistent effort and it’s so easy to put aside. Especially when the progress is relatively slow and painful. I need to get myself to keep it up and start a snowball effect to cross everything off this 30 before 30 list.

28. Hold a handstand – Related to feeling strongly and it’s a pretty cool party trick.

29. Do pull-ups – Again, I want to feel strong, and doing pull-ups is so empowering as it’s not an easy task.

30. Go on a fitness retreat – Holidays are usually a time where fitness gets put aside. I think I would love the vibe of a fitness retreat. And it’s definitely a new experience!

From bucket list to action

When doing my research for this post, I browsed through many 30 before 30 lists. It made me realise how many people have the same dreams. But I wonder how many actually follow through with them.

How many times have you said you’ll do something later and never coming around to it?

Have you heard your friends or members of your family wishing they’d do something they love and then never doing it?

More than a bucket list, I want to create a plan of action. For each goal, I’ll make a plan to cross it off my list and I invite you to do the same.

Writing your goals down is the first step towards achieving them but taking action today is the only chance you have to make your dreams come true.
